My fear about having kids... what if I hate them?

Some people have kids they adore. Their kids are their life.

But what if you have kids who just don't gel with you? If you were a kid, they'd be the kid you hate in your class. Maybe they're a bully. Or twisted.

Except you're not a kid, you're an adult and you're stuck with them.

I'm sure there are many parents who have kids they struggle to like. Or parents who are jealous of other people who have likeable children.

I think historically, parents would send their kids to boarding schools if they didn't like them. Or to their grandparents farm.

Whaddya mean more than likely? Every kid on the internet says they hate their parents these days!

But seriously, this is one of the many reasons I don't have kids. The chief reason is I just never wanted any, but there's also the fact that I've seen too many people struggle with offspring who have mental or physical differences they find it difficult to cope with, or whose children have massively disappointed them for some reason or another. Spend some time with an aging adult whose children will never be able to live independently, and you'll want to run out and get a vasectomy.

My family DNA is lucky in that none of my cousins have disabilities. But with that said, I actually don't particularly like any of my extended family. None of them having 'winning personalities'.
