Who do you think will reach Mars first: NASA, SpaceX, or some other entity?

I think SpaceX will reach Mars first because their plans are more direct to the Red Planet, and NASA is focused on getting back to the Moon before it reaches Mars.

NASA already reached Mars with the Rovers. If you mean a maned landing, then I don't think that will happen until we establish a base camp on the moon to work out any kinks that might occur.

Yeah I meant a human landing. But I agree with the last part of your post.

I’m no scientist but do we even have the resources to accomplish such a mission?
Considering we are at each other’s throats internationally and shared effort and resources seem needed for such an epic endeavor we may never get to Mars.

And then what to do about water and atmosphere?
I sometimes think a Mars settlement is just a pipe dream.

I admire optimists and I’d like to consider myself one as well but some accomplishments seem beyond our current abilities.

Holy Cow, there are some serious hurdles here buddy…

We kill each other for territory, shipping lanes, airspace, our favorite ‘Guy In The Sky…’ who is almost certainly paying no attention in any event. ‘God’ seems entirely absent from
the proceedings.

The Lord gives little kids cancer.
What’s the point of that?

‘God’ seems terrible to me and unfair as well and if I meet I’ll tell him so.

I believe any mission to Mars will be a dual NASA/SpaceX endeavor.
