It is not a taboo topic for me, but I don't talk it about often anyway (except right now of course.) I actually don't mind talking about religious beliefs whenever it comes up but I do not have strong opinions about them.
I have always been interested in religion, but am not religious. So its a subject I enjoy talking about, though sometimes worry I may be disruptive of others' world view, to the extent it may be fragile.
Not taboo for me as an agnostic at all, it's a subject I am very interested in. But it is difficult to discuss religion ( Christianity specifically ) with true believers without stepping on their toes so I prefer to avoid doing that if I can.
Same. I'm an atheist (from a Christian family) but I still respect people's choices.... as long as they don't disrespect other's views. It goes both ways.
Just be a decent person and help others when you can. That's all I need to know, and religion isn't needed to know that for most people.

Tom Holland ( an English Historian ) would disagree on that point. He argues that without Christianity we would still be barbarians, although probably better dressed ones.
It kind of is for me (I was raised in the "Don't publicly talk about religion and politics" era). I will talk about religion at times (and I appreciate the tolerance that's shown here, for the most part...there have been some really good discussions on this site), but I do see it being mostly a "private matter" and "none of my business" here.
And I think that's fine. If you and others enjoy talking about religion, I think you ought to be able to discuss it without issues and repercussions. I didn't mean to come across like I was complaining or anything like that.
Gee, I wonder when we'll hear from the posters who cite "religion" as a justification to disparage marginalized people and cast sanctimonious judgment.
My bookshelves are lined with more different types of bibles and other scripture collections than most people's are with dictionaries. Harry Potter is a more taboo subject.
