This topic has gotten some attention over on the Roy Scheider board, so I thought I'd post it here.

Who are some celebrities that have died and you were surprised to find out years later?

For me, I just discovered today that Roy Scheider died in 2008. I had no idea. The first time I encountered this effect was with Patrick Swayze, who died in 2009 and I didn't hear about it until ten years later.

This seems to be occur with some because their careers fizzled out. They weren't in the public eye for a long time, so they were not missed when they were gone and it wasn't necessarily big or shocking news at the time.
