80s Film Directors: Their Last Great Film

A lot of filmmakers who flourished in the 80s and 90s are still making great movies, for example, Spielberg, Scorsese (both of whom admittedly first came to the fore in the 70s), James Cameron, the Coen Brothers, and, arguably, Ridley Scott. But a lot of filmmakers who were consistently producing gem after gem during the 80s and much of the 90s have gone off the boil for years, and in some cases decades. What do you think was these formerly top-tier directors' last *great* film. These are my choices:

Tim Burton - Frankenweenie (2012) [animation], Sweeney Todd (2007) [live-action]
Robert Zemeckis - Flight (2012)
Barry Levinson - Sleepers (1996)
Rob Reiner - The American President (1995)
Joe Dante - Matinee (1993)
John Landis - Coming to America (1988)

John Carpenter - They Live.

Wolfgang Petersen - Troy (2004)
Spike Lee - BlacKkKlansman (2018)
Tony Scott - Crimson Tide (1995)

John Carpenter - In the Mouth of Madness (1994)

Brian De Palma - Mission Impossible (1996)
