Facelifts obviously don't work, so why do people keep getting them?
The idea is that they're supposed to make you look younger, right? Well, they don't, not even a little bit. A, e.g., 50-year-old with a facelift doesn't look like a 30-year-old or a 40-year-old, they look like a 50-year-old burn victim who had reconstructive surgery on their face.
A facelift has its own unique, artificial look; it doesn't resemble anything in nature. If they were to travel back in time to before facelifts existed, no one would marvel at how "young" they look for their age, but they would probably get a lot of job offers from circus sideshow operators.
