thing you have bought so far in your life? I say for me it's a house.

House and automobile, all paid for. Debt free since 2006.

My education. More expensive than my mortgage, but closing in on paying it off within the next year.

Also exclude school costs which can be astronomical. Excluding those three things, for me it would be stereo equipment and wristwatches.
