fiction or nonfiction books?
nonfiction
shareMostly nonfiction but the danger of that is you find more dry nonfiction than fiction.
shareI USED TO READ BOTH...KING RAT WILL FOREVER BE MY FAVORITE BOOK...THESE DAYS THOUGH I READ BIOGRAPHIES OR AUTO-BIOGRAPHIES ONLY...ABOUT ONE A WEEK...ALL ACTORS,MUSICIANS,DIRECTORS, AND THE LIKE. NOEMOJI
shareKing Rat happens to be my favorite novel as well. James Clavell was a brilliant storyteller.
shareI don’t remember reading King Rat, I should, it sounds interesting.
Shogun was an excellent Clavell book. I like it a great deal. The 1980 TV mini series was ok but was a bit of a letdown compared to the book.
King Rat is based on Clavell's time in a Japanese POW camp. Unforgettable.
shareOh, wow! I only read a brief synopsis and it didn’t sound familiar.
I’ll have to read it now.
Did you ever happen see Empire Of The Sun (87)
It was about a civilian war camp and had a fine cast, it’s worth checking out.
About 50/50.
I have a nice book about the founding of Manhattan by the Dutch and later on the English called The Island At The Center Of The World that I’m poking through.
I also have a recent Stephen King novel I’d like to get to, I like his books a lot.
Sounds interesting. The Dutch were resourceful

That’s the book!
The English tussled with the Dutch for control of the area and a treaty was worked out.
The area where I live still has a lot of Dutch names for streets and rivers, etc.
