Favourite Albums of 2022?

My top 3 are:

Taylor Swift - Midnights
Rammstein - Zeit
Halestorm - Back From The Dead

How about you?

reply

I just checked and I honestly don't have a single album released this year. I usually try to find stuff pre-1980, but it's still surprising I don't have anything from this year. If we're talking about 2021 then I'd choose "Crawler" by Idles as my album of the year.

reply

I looked up rock and metal releases for this year and I have very few of them. There haven’t been many releases from my favourite artists this year.

reply

I'm a fan of the Smashing Pumpkins, and they released an album this year that was one of the biggest pieces of shit I've heard.

reply

The highlight of their career has to be The Batman & Robin soundtrack, as it would be for any artist.

reply

No, their highlight is their 1995 double album" "Mellon Collie & the Infinite Sadness". Too many bangers on that albums.

reply

As you know, I'm often a few months behind on new releases, but my Top 5 so far: -

Liam Gallagher - C'mon, You Know
Ozzy Osbourne - Patient No. 9
Slash - 4
Tears For Fears - Tipping Point
Dubstar - Two

reply

I did not know Slash had a new LP out this year, I’ll have to check it out.

reply

I have all his 'solo' stuff and it's consistently very good.

reply

I have two but will have to make that three.

reply

Don’t forget the Slash’s Snakepit stuff too - it’s all good!

reply

And Velvet Revolver.

reply

I have Velvet Relvover, both albums. 👍

reply

You can tell that he was the one that influenced GnR’s more melodic movements.

reply

DOES HE STILL HAVE MILES KENNEDY ON VOCALS? NOEMOJI

reply

Yes 🤘🎸

reply

EXCELLENT...I LOVE SLASH AND MILES TOGETHER...I NEED TO GET THAT NEW ALBUM. NOEMOJI

reply

Check out Slash’s Snakepit and Velvet Revolver.

reply

I never heard of anything

reply

I never heard of any of them either, but it did confirm that metal has the best album covers.

reply

It’s mostly acts I already know that I listen to.

reply

Bronco - Orville Peck
Fear The Dawn - Jack White
The Gods We Can Touch - AURORA

reply

I’ve not listened to Fear The Dawn, I’ll have to check it out.

reply

You should mate I found it on Spotify then a few months later got the vinyl for a good price. It’s a keeper for me.

reply

I checked out Aurora, me likey, Scandinavians are so good at pop, she reminds me a little of Eivør.

reply

Fear the Dawn is good.

reply

Not really any. I was looking at 2022 playlists and these are ones that I have the most songs from. I honestly can't say I would have gone out an bought any of these cds though.

Coin - Uncanny Valley
White Lies - As I Try Not to Fall Apart
Tears for Fears - The Tipping Point

reply

The Tipping Point received plenty of good reviews, I need to listen to it again.

reply

I liked it much better than Duran Duran's Future Past. It hurt that I didn't love it. I noticed a lot of 80s bands put out new singles this year. I wasn't crazy about most of them.

reply

I take a quick listen on YouTube or Spotify but ignore many of them too if the lead single or video doesn’t grab my attention.

Future Past was good with a few duds thrown in, but I don't expect every release to be a Rio these days...or even a Notorious.

reply

I didn't dislike it, but it's probably my least favourite of their albums. That made me sad as I really like them.

I did like Purple Zone by Soft Cell and The Pet Shop Boys but that's probably because it sounds like it could have been released 30 + years ago.

reply

The new Soft Cell album is good.
