IMDb not showing up in google search results any more?

Anyone else having this happen? For YEARS whenever I search the title of literally any movie, the first two links I'll see is the wikipedia page and/or the imdb page... Now I have to scroll through pages and pages to find the imdb link for that movie, and even then it's usually the "cast and crew" list and not the direct imdb link

Also, there used to be an IMDb section in the right side of the google search results. It's gone now.

I get that people aren't happy with the new IMDb layout, but it seems like the website is being phased out entirely! What gives?

you seem to be right. i tried it with the omen. rotten tomatoes and metacritic are also on the first page.

i searched the omen on yahoo and imdb is second right below wilipedia. it seems to be a google thing.

They excluded the old boards from search engines. I assume to reduce server load. Maybe they're doing it for the whole site?

reply

So they are losing pagerank because no one likes them any more, kill off the forums and they become irrelevant

Isn't the calculation to do with how many people link to your site, and if no one links to imdb anymore it gets removed from Google completely

Well then. RIP IMDb I guess

I noticed this last night when I searched Google for a movie title using the exact IMDb title format (title plus year in parentheses), which has always guaranteed IMDb to be the first result in the past (and even without the year in parentheses it would always be one of the top two results, along with Wikipedia). Instead it was near the bottom of the first page of results and it was the "full cast and crew" link.

Since it happened all of a sudden, it can't be anything organic like IMDb declining in popularity. That sort of thing doesn't happen overnight. It has to be either intentional on Google's part or a bug in their software.

I was going to ask why people are trying to bring up an IMDB page using Google rather than just going to IMDB and searching for the title there. But then I remembered, the only way (I know of) to bring up adult titles at IMDB is to use a search engine. The search AT IMDB suppresses them all.

Just tried with DuckDuckGo and was able to bring up the Debbie Does Dallas page, which I can't bring up by searching at IMDB.
