That Jeffrey Dahmer was fucked up...
I just watched the Netflix doc. What a creepy bastard. Why did he target mainly black men in particular?

shareUGH. NOEMOJI
shareMaybe the same reason as Albert Fish

Gee, ya think a necrophiliac who killed people so he could get laid might have been fucked up?
shareHe was a real jerk.
shareThat's what I say. The more I hear about him, the more I don't care for him.
shareIt's his hypocrisy that bothers me the most. Gallivanting around & acting, for all the world, like he wouldn't dream of having a black kid's head bubbling in the crockpot.
What a phony.
Some might say hypocrisy was not the worst part, but I'm with you.
shareSounds like the Norm MacDonald punchline from the Harvey Weinstein joke😉
shareYou are on the right track. Norm on Bill Cosby.

Aha! You got me lol. I knew it sounded like a Norm routine, but guessed the wrong dirtbag.
shareUnderstatement!
shareWe're riffing on some famous Norm MacDonald bits. ;)

That was a very good show about a very bad guy but it got me to wondering even as I watched it why True Crime docs and series are so popular. I wouldn’t harm anyone but if you told me about a show on The Mob, a crazy Serial Killer or some guy that conspires to kill his spouse for Life Insurance I’m all in.
I feel for the victim’s families as well, imagine losing someone to a criminal and now you can’t watch Netflix or YouTube anymore without being reminded.
Maybe it’s like traffic, you know, when there’s a terrible car accident and every idiot has to slow down and take a look at the wreckage..?
I watch all this crime stuff, I don’t know why!
Same. I have an endless fascination with the most despicable people. Also detective/police procedurals - the un-hammy ones, that is. I hate the main networks ones, with the preachy canned plots - its got to be somewhat real.
As to why, i guess because we're attracted to horror - it gives us a bloody thrill. Kind of like watching insane people free climb up sheer rock faces, endure frost-bite & death scaling Everest - from our couch.
It’s weird, we should be watching more docs about truly inspiring figures like Eleanore Roosevelt or Benjamin Franklin but I’ve seen everything there is to watch about Bundy and Gacy and Ramirez…the trifecta of evil.
I suspect you are correct, humans are fascinated by horror, maybe as a means to stay alert. Old European fairy tales were all about kids lost in the woods and evil witches.
All this stuff I read and view does compel me to lock up the doors and windows every evening, so that’s a good thing.
I wouldn't rely on that Netflix show for info about Dahmer. I linked a couple articles below that detail the inaccuracies of the Netflix show.

Dahmer confessed to killing seventeen people and these included three whites, an Asian and a Hispanic. There was a nine year gap between Dahmer's first and second confessed murders so I suspect there were more victims.
