Anybody seen any of these movies from the 70s?

Villian
The New Centurions
Agatha
Quintet
The Yakuza
The Amsterdam Kill
Cisco Pike
Are any of them good/really good?

reply

Quintet - under-appreciated
The Yakuza - a great latter-day noir (also see 'The Friends of Eddie Coyle')

reply

I've seen Coyle, I think it's a masterpiece.

So cool for Mitchum to still be a leading man in the 70s... Too bad we couldn't hear Bogart curse.

"I don't want my family living like n*******"

reply

"The New Centurions" is probably the best movie about cops. 8/10

"The Yakuza" is alright, with Mitchum.

The Villain with Kirk Douglas?

reply

No Villain with Richard Burton

I remember when the New Centurions came out and having read former cop Wambaugh's book I was eager to see it. It had such a downbeat ending though I never saw again in 50 years. Being a anything Mitchum fan I would recommend Amsterdam.

Seen several back in the day, the only one I remember anything about is "Agatha".

Which is a gorgeous and slow-moving personal drama with delicately restrained performances, probably not your cup of tea.

I like all kinds of movies, yeah action/thriller/horror are my favorite but i'd give it a chance. :)
