shareTommy is an absolute kook, enjoys being treated like an oriental potentate, waited on hand & foot by scientology slaves, but is a darned good thespian.
shareI remember that interview. Trouble is there isn't a single "fact" in it. He's just spouting off Scientology propaganda.
shareThere is truth in his claim that the chemical imbalance theory is basically a myth
It doesn't mean anything to describe psychiatric disorders as chemical imbalances, at best it's a gross oversimplification that should not be repeated as medical wisdom
But yes, you can tell from his phrasing that he only has a weak grasp of his own arguments. Not all psychiatric drugs are classed as antipsychotics
As weird as Scientology is, lots of their criticisms of psychiatry do have merit. The problem is that their alternative, auditing and such, is pseudoscience
Who suddenly decided that Matt Lauer is educable? Show me the evidence that this dipstick has 2 brain cells to rub together.
I will not write “prove [sic: what you MEAN to say is “show me that I am; to “prove” is “to test,” NOT “to demonstrate”] me wrong.” I know more than that.
I just saw that video. "Just the vax, man".
I don't mind that medication is available, but it should be over-the-counter. Many will see a doctor. Some won't. I like choice.
he's a scientologist.
sharePsychiatry is pseudoscience. Real science produces things, cell phones, James Webb, vaccines, CT scanners, DNA testing, etc.
I don't know if the chemical imbalance thing is "real" but it makes sense to me because our emotions are chemical reactions. But Tom makes a good point that there is no test that can show what is out of balance and it may be BS. Psychology is good in that we learn more about how the mind works but I'm not a believer that psychotherapy works for everyone but it would be foolish to say it doesn't help anyone.
