Is it unethical for a singer/band to purposefully withhold extra concert dates?

So they know that they can sell two or three shows, but purposefully withhold this plan, selling out a show at a time.

Result? Fans end up buying horrible tickets at the back of a stadium, not knowing that they could have decent seats for a yet to be announced "extra" date.

I feel like this is a con.

It takes a lot of advance planning to book concert tours. I strongly doubt that adding performances are done for nefarious reasons.

If a performer doesn't want to do extra dates, they're under no obligation to. They put up their time and energy into performing, and their money into renting the venue, and they decide how many performances are feasible.

Besides, they lose money if the venue is so empty that all the fans have good seats.

What is the point of seeing live music when you can listen to in on an iPod? Seems kind of stupid to me

reply

1. See your favorite artist in the flesh
2. Music that is loud and nobody gonna put in a noise complaint for cranking it up
3. Sense of community, seeing other fans enjoy your favorite artist
4. Bring a date/family member and enjoy something together
