UFC 276
Anyone watching? The main (Adesanya vs. Cannonier) and co-main (Volkanovski vs Holloway) events should be great.

I was glad to see Strickland go down. Not a fan.

Miller is amazing. Still going after all this time. Sorry to see Cowboy go but he seemed pretty happy.

Wow! He's got a lot projects already. I had no idea.

I did hear the speech, I just didn't know how far along he was on that path. That's really great.
Volk is getting better as time goes on. Tough night for Max. They couldn't control the bleeding of that first cut over the eye and it was bothering him a lot. Still gotta give him credit - no quit in him at all.

After tonight, Pereira.

I just like the name. Got it from a minor character in Tombstone https://moviechat.org/tt0108358/Tombstone.
He rode with Wyatt Earp's posse to track down those evil cowboys.

New York, which is sadly becoming more like the Wild West everyday.
shareOverall disappointing. Not that I expected Cannonier to win or anything but still. Max was a shadow of his usual murder'y self vs Volk and that fight should have been spectacular.
At least the Lawler/Barbereno was good. Very good. I missed the prelims.
I was a boxing fan all my life until I finally got sick of the crooked judging. I quit watching boxing several years ago and switched to MMA (which I had been gradually starting to follow anyhow). My only gripe about MMA is how the weight cutting to fight beneath your class still goes on. I think fighters should be weighed a week before, the night before, and the day of the fight. Fighters should fight in their natural weight class.
Prelims were good. Competitive fights except for the last/feature prelim, which was a quick submission.
Volkanovski is so dialed-in right now. In his last fight with Korean Zombie, I thought he had improved his hand speed and he looked even better against Max.
I followed the same path as you from boxing to MMA. HBO getting out of the boxing world seemed to hurt the sport, and it was like they were halfway out even before it became official because they would go months without an event in their last year. 10-15 years ago, that never happened. It was a steady 2-3 events per month then.
Completely agree on the weight cutting nonsense. I think it's a dangerous practice that should end for both boxing and MMA.
Oh, I did catch the prelim Cerrone fight. Meh. I'm sorta glad Cowboy retired. He has become frustrating to watch (like Holly Homes.) I'd watch one of his films. Although I have heard some unsettling rumors about his behavior. Hopefully untrue.
