How long do you excogitate before setting up Christmas tree?

Usually late November. But I've seen people set up in October! Those people are ridiculous I say....

Some stores have them up before Halloween.

Disgusting!

It is. Imagine going in a store looking for costumes for the kids. There are none, but there are plastic x-mas trees!

Sounds like you're well excogitated to everyone else. πŸ‘

Thanksgiving weekend every year.
We might wait a week to go to a tree farm but we have a couple fake trees we always put up anyway.

Canadian Thanksgiving > American Thanksgiving. Don't fight me, just accept the truth.

Oh yeah? Our 4th Of July is way better than yours!
COME AT ME BRO!!!

The film "Independence Day" > Your actual Independence Day

(I know the film is American but it's loved by all around the world.)

Usually on Black Friday and I think that’s perfectly fine.

I usually take the tree and decorations out a few days before December so everything is ready for when I'm ready. I usually start November 30th or December 1st.

reply

One of my rules is no Christmas decorations, music, movies, etc. before December 1st. Otherwise it cheapens what should be a special time of year.

I could never understand why the Hallmark Channel airs holiday movies in July. When it's the middle of summer with the miserable heat, the last thing I want to see is a Christmas film.

Excogitate? I'd clean up the mess first. 🀣

reply

It's my new favourite word. Sounds badass.

reply

I just excogitated my dinner.

reply

I have a 10 minute excogitation session every morning.....

Is this going to be another word like "unprecedented" that has been used ad nauseum since the COVID-19 pandemic reports?

We discovered a new word, so let's take every possible opportunity to overuse it. Like a kid with a new toy.

reply

We are always abroad for December, so the tree gets put up quite early, otherwise my daughter would never get to experience the tradition of helping to hang all the baubles and tinsel.

I didn't know Xmas was big in the UK as well.

reply

It's the biggest holiday of the year. It's been 37 years since I've been in the UK for Christmas and New Year.
