Greatest music videos ever

No list is complete without the greatest music video ever: Michael Jackson's "Thriller." But I daresay that Eric Prydz's "Call On Me" is much more better-er. I have no idea why, but it just is: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qetW6R9Jxs4.

On a more serious note I really like the music video for Kylie Minogue's "Come Into My World." The concept of the camera repeating its pan sweep with each sweep duplicating all the characters is really cool.

More early 2000s nostalgia--my favorite is Can't Get You Out Of My Head

Haha I had forgotten this song. This was one of her biggest hits. Love it!

It’s by far the biggest hit of her career. It sold over 5 million copies and hit number one in 40 countries worldwide. While it’s not my personal favourite of hers, there’s no denying it was a global phenomenon at the time.

Since you guys mentioned her, my favourite Kylie music videos are:

Confide In Me
Where The Wild Roses Grow
Put Yourself in My Place
Slow
Did it Again
What Do I Have To Do
Better The Devil You Know
Can’t Get You Out Of My Head

Really, since 1990 all of her videos have been top-shelf. Not that I’m biased or anything 😝

There's also The Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up." An insane POV (point-of-view) music video of someone going on a rampage, doing drugs, beating people up, breaking all kinds of laws, and you think the whole time it's some crazy guy, but the twist at the end of the video is that it was a woman all along:

Speaking of actors in music videos this fragrance commercial should easily be in the top list

WTF, more like an epileptic seizure.

Never seen that, in fact I've never heard of Kenzo. I looked up the dancer, Margaret Qualley, she is the daughter of Andie McDowell.

reply

Indeed. She's destined for greatness.

The behind-the-scenes of how the video was made is pretty interesting.

This is definitely worthy of being called one of the greatest music videos of all time.

Touch of Grey - Grateful Dead

The Dead's only Top 10 hit in their 30-year career. In fact their only Top 40.

Is “much more better.”

Really?

Copy and paste better. I said, and I'm quoting myself, "better-er." There, the act of me spelling it "better-er" in my original post is indicative of deliberate intent. Your ammunition is depleted.

I get it. You stomp around the beach and kick people's sandcastles over. Me? Not impressed.

Rio, like Take on Me (next page) makes me very nostalgic for the 80s

reply

Yeah, "Rio" is the quintessential 80's song.

I remember "Take on Me" of course and it's often praised as one of the best 80's videos. But the song itself was too "pop" for my tastes at the time.

Like A Prayer gets a big thumbs up from me!
