This is not, I hope, a political question.
I was looking for information on prima nocta although some prefer the term droit du seigneur but that sounds like it might be French, and, to make a long story short, I came upon the following information at Snopes:

Do you agree with Snopes, in this case? I realize some people have political feelings about Snopes, but I am asking you to ignore those and really concentrate on the LINGUISTIC question I am asking.
