Examples of TV commercials that don't seem to fit the interests of the audience.

I have been binge watching Discovery's Fast N Loud and can't figure out why TLC thinks I be interested in watching the 1000 Pound Sisters, 3 muted ads every hour seems like a extreme waste of money.

An hour-long broadcast slot on cable/satellite channels is now comprised of about 40 minutes of the actual program and 20 minutes of commercials and endless repetitions of promos for upcoming shows like the one you mentioned. TLC must really want people to watch this... I get it. But is it necessary to run the same promos during every commercial break?

This is why repeats of classic programs from the 1970s are missing about ten minutes of content when they are shown on these channels. An hour-long drama originally ran for about 52 minutes; today it's 40-42 minutes. These programs are no longer worth watching.

To answer your original question, I can't think offhand of a specific commercial; hitting the mute button during the breaks is probably the reason why none come to mind. There seem to be a lot of ads run by pharmaceutical companies promoting treatments for conditions I've never heard of.

I listen to a lot of rock and metal, guitar based music on Youtube and I don't understand why Youtube will show me ads for techno, Bieber etc

That irritates me. When I'm expecting a rock song to play, then suddenly I hear a pop song, it immediately reminds me of why I listen to rock in the first place.

It is counter productive I agree.

In regards to ads themselves. Gillette have gone down the Go Woke Go Broke path. A little while ago they did a "Toxic Masculinity" campaign which backfired as they attacked their market.

Now they have an ad that features a chubby Hispanic kid who doesn't look like he shaves yet who pushes a hard bodied white guy out of the way.

No one wants to be chubby Hispanic kid!
