StoneKeeper's Movie Guessing Game: I Recommend THIS Movie #1832 - Like Sweet Honeydew [LauraGrace puts a cap on THE LONG, HOT SUMMER]
So here's a movie I'm surprised that no one's picked yet. Put on your thinking caps!
I have a movie in mind and you have to guess which one it is. For each movie you guess, I will give a hint that connects your guess with the movie I have in mind.
For each guess, a connection is posted. Example of connections: Actor, length, genre, aspect ratio, language, country, year, director, actor, writer in common, rating, number of votes, nominations. It can even be something like: both movies involve Cabbage Patch Kids. Also, you can use Metascore color or rating, Rotten Tomatoes score, any award wins or nominations in common, same number of words in the title, plot keywords. Note: "Plot" in the IMDB advanced search links to "Plot Summary" on the film's page. "Keyword" in the advanced search links to "Plot Keyword" on the film's page.
Helpful search engine: https://www.imdb.com/search/title/ Click on Feature Film and TV Movie. Then modify for the hints as they are posted.
- The winner can either start a new game or say "pass". In case of a pass, the OP gets to start another one.
- After 12 hints and 15 incorrect guesses the point goes to the OP and he/she gets to start another one.
- Movie must have at least 3500 IMDB votes. Otherwise, add a bonus hint. No documentaries.
- Maximum 2 guesses per player per hint.
- Can't edit a guess once posted. Delete ONLY
- Post one Hint at a time.
Let's get it on!
Hint 1: Battlefield Earth (2000) - At least one Oscar winner in the cast.
Hint 2: 8 Heads in a Duffel Bag (1997) - VFA runtime under 2 hours.
Hint 3: The Expendables 2 (2012) - The lead actor has also done a fair bit of directing in his career.
Hint 4: Anaconda (1997) - 20th century movie.
Hint 5: Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982) - Drama.
Hint 6: The Silence of the Lambs (1991) - Based on a novel/novella.
Hint 7: The Beguiled (1971) - IMDB user rating is swimming in the 7s.
Hint 8: Jeremiah Johnson (1972) - Robert Redford is a major link to the lead actor of this mystery film.
Hint 9: No Way Out (1987) - Under 40,000 IMDB votes.
Hint 10: Sometimes a Great Notion (1971) - Paul Newman AND Lee Remick are in it!
Congrats to Laura! With autumn officially starting tomorrow, I thought I'd pay a revisit to The Long, Hot Summer (1958), Paul Newman's other 1958 hit as a major heartthrob. I think this surpasses Cat on a Hot Tin Roof in some respects, one being Newman's raw magnetism. He's comparable to Brando in Streetcar here, right on down to the post-antebellum setting. This was recently remastered and released on bluray, and it looks frickin' gorgeous. Even so, it's still a great popcorn classic wherever you can view it.
