Are you an introvert or extrovert?

Adult me & Kid me are like 2 completely different people. Personality wise. Used to be an extrovert when I was kid. Would go out, socialize, & just play outside from morning till after 8 at night.

But now, sitting down, watching my favorite show with a drink & some chips is a good time for me or just sit & listen to some music all day. I like my own company. That's not to say I don't like going out. I do. I have friends. I'm just not not a social person

I'm the kinda person who gets excited when people cancel their plans to hang out & stuff. Also, I don't like people who try to get me to be more social & outgoing. I'm sorry, that's not me. You do you & let me be.

I generally like people and you can learn things if you listen and even entertain them if you can crack a joke or share a tale The Old Irish Way...read the audience and respond accordingly...good will and humor is a fine goal
Other folks make for good times and are generally not bad at all

However, there are times you need a couple hours to yourself in the garage or barn blasting Rock, singing along very poorly of course, and having a few beers while fidgeting with your tools or various hobby projects

I'd bet most people are a combination of both intro- and extrovert

Everyone is. There's really no such thing as an introvert or an extrovert in the way Carl Jung originally envisaged them. And even he said anyone who was purely one or the other would need to be in a lunatic asylum.

Modern neurology has demonstrated neuroplasticity; personality traits aren't fixed. People adapt and change through circumstance, life experience and environment.

That said, I'm more often (classically) introvert than extrovert myself. I'm bookish. I prefer small companies to crowds, and frequently no company at all to small companies. I'm the kind of person who is delighted to have guests, but secretly more delighted when they leave. So: lean introvert.

But, yeah, both - because everyone is.

Depends on the company.. If it comes to someone interesting, I'm very extroverted. Otherwise, I don't mind to spend all my time at home, especially with COVID. How stupid would it be going to some event you don't wanna go in the first place, and THEN get sick.

reply

Whenever lockdowns ease, people immediately have get together & stuff. And I always get invited to come hang out but thankfully, now I actually have a good excuse for not going. Covid.

Now I don't have to think of good excuses or be 'rude' for not going. I just blame Covid instead. πŸ˜†

reply

I think if COVID ended tomorrow, I probably wouldn't go to more places. I just save every penny I have, because having my own place to live in is all that matters. I wouldn't spend a penny on my health in fear of not being able to pay a bill. And all the people I like live far away, and those that are close aren't worth it because they're only friends when they have no one to talk to.

I've also noticed the external drama in my life disappearing, and even sex can kiss my ass, too. And when I'm alone, I can't fight with myself, lie to myself, annoy myself, etc etc... And ordering groceries online, where I don't only have a list of what I've bought for over a year which enables me to never forget, but before it would take over an hour from the time I left my house until the time I got home. My supermarket charges $4.95, and then I get $3 off spending over $100, which is what I always do, and $1.95 is a LOT cheaper than just the gas alone. Now, everything (and not just food) comes to my door, taking me no more than 2 minutes. It's also very nice not having to deal with traffic, idiots driving who are on their phones, hundreds of people leaving and entering, unmasked and coughing.

I'm more of an introvert, but can be an extrovert when I want to be.

Introvert, unless wines involved:)

reply

100% introvert. I'd rather stay at home and listen to music in the dark than go out to a party.

reply

You & I would make good friends. From the comfort of our own homes, of course.

reply

i have attended barbecues the last four sundays. i have no choice but to be outgoing at this point.

If there were a scale I would probably fall here:
INTROVERT |---X--------------------------| EXTROVERT
