My neighbor has a car that has No Logo

I walked around it a couple times, and there is no identifying Mark or Logo.
It's a sporty little model, I'm guessing it's Tesla, but nothing on the Grill, nothing on the Trunk or Tail End or Hood.
What sort of company doesn't Brand it's Model ?

reply

Some people remove the badges from the car themselves.

reply

Interesting. I don't think I've ever encountered this, or even considered it. I'm not much into body work, but obviously one would have to have the notches and evidence filled and smoothed and painted. Hmmm ....

reply

When I worked at a car wash in my teenage years, a customer gave a BMW logo sticky thing. I removed the Pontiac logo from the back of my Sunfire and put the BMW sticker on in its place.
BMW Sunfire baby!

I like when people take a Hood Ornament and attach it to some other vehicle, like putting a Mercedes ornament on a bike or some old tractor. Always catches my eye and makes me grin.

Same

It’s nike

reply

Good one. I live in Nike Ground Zero

reply

Possibly a kit car?

reply

Perhaps, not sure how I could sus that out unless I simply ask her. She often has more than one car in her driveway, but this thing seems like a new addition. I really try not to be too snoopy so I don't try to keep track of things over there.

If only my other next-door neighbor was so circumspect (two wrecked lux SUVs parked in HER drive).

reply

Silly and extremely cautious people are afraid you will determine it's worth. I suggest you ask for a loan and watch the neighbor stop talking to you, lol.

reply

She made a joke a few weeks ago which I appreciated but for some reason we haven't spoken much. This is a modest neighborhood but you never know. Most people seem to keep to themselves to the point where it's a little uncomfortable.

reply

I just happened to be awake. My work buddy made an interesting observation. People with no money are always talking about all their wealth. Whereas rich people always downplay their wealth.

reply

He's running from the police and doesn't want any identifiers on his car.

reply

A woman owns the house and her parents (?) come by occasionally but it seems like a second car is often parked or in the garage (when the door is open) so I really don't have any idea what goes on over there, but other than sometimes a lonely dog baying during the day, I don't get a bad feeling from the place.

reply

Most commonly what Davodikum said. People debadge cars and trucks to give them a slicker look.

reply

I have black powder coated wheels on my Miata and I painted the trim pieces black to match, but I like the look of a clean sports car and have been considering debadging mine. Not a big fan of shiny chrome except on classic cars.

reply

I find this intriguing. I'm very casual about the appearance of my rig. As long as it runs reliably, I don't care what the damn thing looks like. I liken it to my old claw hammer I inherited from my Dad; it's old, has paint spots all over it and works just as well as a brand new one, plus it's paid for.

reply

Cars are a hobby and I like to customize - I redid the interior of the Miata and replaced the radio, added Apple Car Play, and a backup camera also.

Mine is a 2008 and is only used during nice weather and stored during the winter. It was paid off long ago.

reply

That's cool. If I had a buddy like you I'd be much more interested in the process of achieving the goal. When I was a kid I had a friend whose Dad restored an old classic Auburn (I think that's what it was) probably from the Forties. He let me do a little work on it, maybe just some polishing (long time ago) but whenever I saw that thing I felt like I was a part of it's Glorious History or whatever.

Cars don't really move me, (haha, unintended pun), even though I grew up in the seat (another pun) of Motor City culture. But it's such a big thing for so many people, I respect the enjoyment taken from it and it's probably a better way to spend one's time than a lot of other things.

reply

It’s can be an expensive but fun hobby. I’ve been into restoring Chevrolet trucks since my teens and throughout my life I usually have one project vehicle in the works. In most cases even when complete they require lots of maintenance to keep up though.

reply

Even though my car has a couple dents and a bit of paint transfer (all self inflicted, by the way, not from hitting other vehicles), one thing I'm proud of is I KEEP IT IN THE DAMN GARAGE. Yeah, I'm lucky to have a garage but a lot of people fill their garage with junk and leave their car out. I don't subscribe to that way of living.

reply

That’s a big thing in the life of a vehicle as far as I’m concerned. I buy and sell at car auctions and you can tell when an older car has been kept in a garage.

reply

I think you need a adventure in your life.
Follow him.
You may found something bigger than all of us.

reply

Haha, nah, I have very little interest in doing this. Got my own stuff to do, like work. My unfortunate coworker seems to have a malady and I keep filling his shifts. Gonna be 8 straight days of work and counting. The car is just a point of curiosity.

reply

I thought this was the start of a joke. You know, something like - My dog has no nose ...

reply

Yeah, I like those types of posts, and maybe have made a couple, but nope. I've walked by the car a few times and finally yesterday I walked around it and looked closely just to confirm what I thought.
