What are some of your favorite movie endings of all time

I LOVE dark endings. Not trying to be edgy or anything. I love Happy endings as much as the next guy, Wink wink, from Shawshank Redemption to The Truman Show & Terminator Judgement Day

But its just that the bleak ones stay with me forever. They have the kinda impact on me that the happy ones don't. So without further ado, here are just some of my absolute favorites

1. Seven
2. The Usual Suspects
3. The Godfather part 1 & 2
4. Planet of the Apes 1968
5. The Dark Knight
6. Chinatown
7. The Mist
8. Infinity War
9. Memento
10. Primal Fear

OMG, someone actually mentioned Jeepers Creepers. I absolutely loved that film. Scared the heck outta me growing up.

Freaking love the ending as well.

The end of Triangle is pretty creepy too. Tale of Two Sisters, Orca, and UnFriended are just so sad.

reply

Triangle is hella good. Sorry, haven't seen the other ones.

Also, just got carried away with Jeepers cause I love the film but I barely hear people mention it.

reply

There are many excellent examples posted, but no one has mentioned Carrie (1976) for its ending at the cemetery.

Body Heat (1981)
Planet of the Apes (1968)
Night of the Living Dead(1968)
Rosemarys Baby (1967)

3. The Russians Are Coming! The Russians Are Coming!

Some incredible endings listed on these pages.

The two I can add are some more obscure Eastwood films.

1. The Beguiled (1972)
2. White Hunter, Black Heart (1990)

White Hunter, Black Heart (a story about John Huston in Africa filming the African Queen) has a interesting dialogue about movie endings and how they should go.
