A Mormon "youtube family" deleted my comment

Their daughter, 18, is engaged to a guy she met a year ago.

I wrote "she's barely out of highschool, too young".

I check back and they deleted it.

My brother says 18 is normal for mormons. Is that true?

reply

Yes

reply

How is that your business?

reply

It's not. But they make their lives public so I get a say.

reply

Not if they delete it, apparently.

reply

I saw the comment later, not sure if it's deleted or if only I can see it. It had disappeared before.

I had that happen last month. About ten years ago, when The Tudors was playing on US television, the game show Jeopardy used it as a topic. That got mentioned on the IMDB board for The Tudors, and people were curious. I had the Jeopardy episode on my DVR, so I took a video clip of that segment and uploaded it to Youtube then let the other IMDB users know where it was so they could see it.

Last month, I went looking for that clip on Youtube, wondering if it was still there. It was, and I saw that one of the Jeopardy contestants had posted a comment, something like "that's me!" So I replied to her comment, something like "hi, glad you found this." About the most innocuous comment imaginable. It disappeared, then came back briefly, then disappeared again forever. Weird.

"I get a say."

YOU BOILED DOWN THE PROBLEM WITH MODERN SOCIETY WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING IT.

reply

What, democracy, free speech?

reply

YOU MISS THE POINT AND ONLY HIGHLIGHT THE DISCONNECT PEOPLE HAVE WHEN IT COMES TO FREEDOM,RIGHTS,OPERCEIVED RIGHTS AND EGO.

reply

"she's barely out of highschool, too young".

Everyone is different.

reply

Well, that means that you still have more freedom of speech than them in youtube.

You can say that at 18 she's too young to marry and they will delete your comment, but nothing will happen to your account. If they say that a woman in her 30s is too old to marry, the whole channel would be deleted and their accounts would be banned.

If you were dealing with the FLDS, that group also tends to marry 12 YEAR OLDS, which is also why their LEADER was given a LIFE SENTENCE and put in jail:

The lowest age of marriage is 12 for any (female) citizen regardless of religion 🤷‍♀️

I've heard of these old laws. I think they existed so that pregnant teens could do the honorable thing and wed.

reply

It's similar in France too. The politicians really should get these laws looked at .
