What do you think about a movie involving a demented cult leader who orders his followers to kill rich and famous people in Hollywood?
Interesting? Not interesting?
shareInteresting? Not interesting?
shareWhat if the leader did it through stochastic suggestion?
shareIn what way?
shareIn simple terms, along the lines of publicly declaring something like: "Gee, so-and-so has been very critical of me lately. It would be nice if someone brave and righteous did something about it."
sharelol Sounds like just the way Manson got his followers to do atrocious shit for him. Susan Atkins even wrote a book saying that that was exactly how Manson used to get 'em to do things - Always strongly hinting or suggesting something, but never directly ordering it.

shareI have no idea what you're talking about, but I commend you on your username choice.

i was going with a movie title for you. walk of fame pun,
the cult could cross off their stars on the walk of fame after each one dies.
Hollywood would never make that movie.
shareYeah they would. It'd be an excellent crime drama/horror flick/whatever if done right
shareHollywood doesn't want to give the crazy's ideas.
Life can imitate art.
More importantly, actors are VERY AWARE of all the crazies in the world. No "A" list actor would sign up for a role.
They would because it's all fiction.
And Hollywood doesn't care about the risk of giving the "crazies" any ideas, if they did then a large majority of the movies they've released would have never seen the light of day. There's already been a million ideas put out that could have potentially motivated some psycho into doing something, but didn't.
🙄 Do you really think your the very first person to come up with the idea of a serial killer that targets celebrities?
Why then hasn't this movie been made?
Because actors know the price of fame is dealing with crazy people and don't want to increase that price.
They made The Bodyguard (1992) but that is as close as Hollywood will get.
You can literally say that about any new idea that gets put on the market. "Has no one really thought of this until now?" The answer is either no they haven't, or if anyone has it wasn't a screenwriter or a producer.
And do you really think that if someone is crazy enough to want to kill a celebrity, that they wouldn't already be motivated to do so? Like, what could a movie do to make them see why killing a famous person is desireable, that they wouldn't already be able to figure out on their own?
Hollywood has thousands of ideamen and women pitching ideas to producers and studios every day.
Your idea DOES sound like a moneymaker (I would watch it) but I am SURE the idea of a serial killer that targets celebrities has been thrown around town already.
The biggest obstacle is that finding a A list actor (in this case SEVERAL A list actors) willing to be killed in movie by a crazy targeting them just BECAUSE they are a celebrity would be impossible.
It hits on THE primal fear of all A list celeberties.
The movie could probably be made with no names, but that wouldn't be a moneymaker.
Actors take roles all the time that hit on very instinctive, primal fears (just think of ANY plot involving murder, or any that involves child abductions, kidnappings, or anything of the sort.) So come off it. People don't view fiction the same exact way they view reality. Don't fool yourself into thinking an actor would turn down such a role if they thought the script was good enough or were offered enough money to play it.
shareOooh, a loaded question 🍿🥤
shareHow about the Hollywood elite backing a group of people who end up turning on them and then kill rape and loot their mansions?
And the cops never turn up because these elite people wanted them defunded...
Uh, do you mean films like ...
Helter Skelter (1976)
The Manson Family (2003)
Charlie Says (2019)
The Haunting of Sharon Tate (2019)
and yes, even Once Upon a Time ... In Hollywood (2019)
