Has anyone seen Toy Story 2?

In the opening sequence, Buzz is shown falling into a spaceship when the ground opens beneath him. It is very similar visually to the end sequence in Prometheus.

Can anyone tell me what the visual Reference in Toy Story was seeing as it came out almost a decade earlier?
