Pop Music Supergroups

Pick your favourite singers from other pop groups to make a new Girlband/Boyband Supergroup, 4 or 5 members.

Emma Bunton - Spice Girls
Mel Blatt - All Saints
Tina Barrett - S Club 7
Alesha Dixon - Mis-Teeq
Lindsay Armaou - B*Witched

Bumpage!!

reply

Although I've heard of all those groups, I have to admit Emma is the only one I know individually by name.

If I did this it would probably have to be from groups earlier than even those. Also, it would probably favour pop/rock groups over straight-out girl/boy bands. Susannah Hoffs from the Bangles would definitely be included... hmm, maybe Belinda Carlisle from the Go-Gos and Ann Wilson from Heart. One more.... aah, I'll say Keren Woodward from Bananarama. That'll do!

reply

Pretty good picks. I'd pay good money to see that gig

reply

Come to think of it so would I! That said, I would pay to see Hoffs whether she was solo, with The Bangles or in a fantasy supergroup. She's divine.

reply

Absolutely. Jay Roach is a one lucky S.O.B.

Speaking of divine. I was lucky enough to see Beverley Craven perform at a little intimate gig a few years ago here in Kilkenny. I was mesmerized by her.

Jenny Frost (Atomic Kitten)
Mutya Buena (Sugababes)
Shaznay Lewis (All Saints)
Mel C (Spice Girls)
Louise (Eternal)

reply

Oh I love the Sugababes, they were a seriously COOL girl group, well before they totally changed their line-up and became a parody of the original band, anyway. Keisha Buchanan would be my pick from those ladies.

reply

Arent they back with the orginal line up now?

reply

I think they are, even Siobhan! I know I saw them guest-vocalling on some DJ’s song recently on Graham Norton, but I’m not sure if they’ve actually released anything on their own. They were in fine voice though, I’d be up for a new record for sure!

Found it Rio - check it out 😍

reply

Nice, they look and sound good!

reply

Are they really? That's great. Overload, I think is their best song.

reply

I know I'm digressing but I'd rate these as their best songs:

- Overload
- Hole in the Head
- Freak Like Me
- Red Dress
- In the Middle
- Push the Button
- Denial
- Stronger

Such great pop songs. Damn, I'm gonna have to pull them up on Spotify now and have at it!

reply

I can't argue with Mel C. Her late 90s, early 00s solo stuff was great.

reply

Her new album isn't bad either and is doing very well in the UK for an independent release.

reply

I'm listening to it as I type.

reply

I don't know girl and boy bands but for a great rock/metal band living or dead...

DIO!
Flea
Slash
Bonham

reply

Going down that road...

Shirley Manson - Garbage
Stephen Carpenter - Deftones
Tom Araya - Slayer
Neil Peart - Rush

reply

You should do a different thread for each genre.

reply

It was more of impromptu list.

reply

Nice list for off the hip👍

reply

Everyone listed left their bands to go solo, so these probably wouldn't last 5 minutes, lol.

Boy Band: -
Robbie Williams (Take That)
Zayn Malik (One Direction)
Ronan Keating (Boyzone)
Justin Timberlake(NSYNC)
Nick Carter (Backstreet Boys)

Girl Band: -
Geri Halliwell (Spice Girls)
Nicole Scherzinger (Pussycat Dolls)
Camila Cabello (Fifth Harmony)
Louise Nurding (Eternal)
