Movies that aren't good but you can almost appreciate because they should have been worse.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990)
Commando
A Nightmare on Elm Street 3
The Blob (1988)
The A Team
2010: The Year We Make Contact
Psycho II
Dante's Peak
i've only seen 4 films from that list, & honestly, i think all of them are at least good, & i think one of them is truly great. it's a big world, & we're entitled to our preferences, but i cannot accept categorizing commando as a film that sucks when it's given me pure fun every single time i've watched it - approximately 800 million times, give or take.
maybe i'm easy to please. if i'm not bored, if i'm having a good time, then the film is good, & i'm never going to say no to a good time with a movie.
That's kind of how I feel about Commando. It's not a good film, but it is enjoyable and should have been worse. Usually these 1 vs. Everybody are complete crap.
Arnie carries Commando on his shoulders, the dude has wheelbarrow loads of charisma. No other actor alive could have turned that film into a success and made it memorable. I always thought Rae Dawn Chong was an odd choice but she's perfect in the role.
Scientists touching just-discovered alien life forms. Someone turns into a zombie. Aliens want to destroy life on planet they seeded because ... because ... they seeded it? etc etc
I enjoyed Prometheus but only because I sort of lean on my own alternate interpretation fantasy.
Meet the Spartans
Batman and Robin
Justice League
Ballistic: Ecks vs Sever
Wild Wild West
G.I. Jane
Power Rangers
Red Sparrow
Robin Hood
Dora and the City of Lost Gold
