Ever noticed people who are incompetent tend to rise to positions of power?

And I'm not just talking politics here. But in many facets of life especially at work. Why is this? Did they have proper connections or know how to suck up to the right people? Or sabotage others to get ahead? Do they rise to powerful positions due to insecurity about their own skills (i.e. overcompensation)?

Many examples if that: Donald Trump and most of Washington, Kathleen Kennedy, most managers, business owners, etc.

The immutable universal truth of life: if they're stupid, make poor/rash decisions and are all around soulless, chances are they make more money/hold more power than you.

One of life's many cruel ironies.

Sure seems like it.

Similar with history: Many bad people are remembered as heroes while many actual heroes are forgotten.
