It's not original to me although I can't remember where I read it. It's just the back story to the fact that it's women who choose who to pair up and breed with. If a man is not "eligible" his genes are history. It's not a value judgement against it or even saying it's wrong. It's just an observation.
To answer your original question I don't date but if I did transsexuals, cross dressers and the gender reassigned among others would not be eligible.
