1970's

So you ride yourselves over the fields
And you make all your animal deals
And your wise men don't know how it feels

Baby, yesterday's blues
May be yesterday's news
But the truth always stays the same
And the good things will never change
Like sayin' "I love you"

I've been guessing (or trying to guess) and enjoying that so much...time for me to give back and post some lyrics of my own!

Early 90s folk, great song by an underrated British singer/songwriter/guitarist:

Well, he reached for her hand and he slipped her the keys.
He said, "I've got no further use for these.
I see Angels on Aerials in leather and chrome
Swoopin' down from Heaven to carry me home."

reply

I won't give additional lyrics, but will say this song is about a guy named James, a woman named Red Molly, and the title of the song is a motorcycle, I believe.

reply

I'm going to go ahead and close some of my unanswered ones out.

This one is "1952 Vincent Black Lightning" by Richard Thompson.

reply

70s singer-songwriter, long-deceased, love the lyrics that he wrote (This is from one of his "more obscure" songs):

I've traded love for pennies
Sold my soul for less
Lost my ideals in that long tunnel of time.

reply

Additional lyrics:

I've turned inside out and around about and back and then
Found myself right back where I started again.

reply

Looks like I stumped the band on this one as well, Doc! 😃

This is from a song called "Age" by the late, great Jim Croce. I just love this song.

reply

Going to channel my "inner hownos" here (and his short clues! 😃) with these next few clues...proper names, might be more than one song that mentions them, but here goes:

70s rock/folk/country...singer passed away a few years ago:

Mario Andretti

reply

This is a humorous song with some great guitar playing on it. Radio stations used to play it on the radio from time to time, but I don't think so anymore. Here are some additional lyrics:

Mario Andretti woulda sure been proud
Of the way I was movin' when I passed that crowd
Comin' out the door and headin' toward me in a trot.

reply

Closing this one out also...I used to hear this song growing up on my local rock station from time to time: "(The Ballad Of The) Uneasy Rider" by The Charlie Daniels Band.

reply

mid/late 90s alternative rock:

Bob Seger

reply

I think the artist (solo, male) was a "one-hit wonder" here in the U.S. Here are some additional lyrics:

"She grew up with the children of the stars
In the Hollywood hills and the boulevards.
Her parents threw big parties
Everyone was there.
They hung out with folks like Dennis Hopper and Bob Seger and Sonny and Cher."

reply

I'm kind of surprised no one got this one...this one got a lot of airplay back in the 90s:

"Lullaby" by Shawn Mullins

70s classic rock:

Yes! Excellent...I thought this one might be a little tricky, but I guess not! Well done!
