Name a food you loved in your youth that is gone today.
For me it is Howard Johnson's fried clams, last time I had them was in the late 70's early 80's. I still salivate when I think of them with some lemon juice and a side of tartar sauce.

shareI agree - I really loved HJ's clams.
I miss Isaly's ice cream. The unique shape was called a Skyscraper and achieved by using a pointed scoop. They had a unique flavor called Rainbow Ice Cream, (not sherbet), that I loved.

Those Fried Clams really were the best!
And the Howard Johnon's all up and down the East Coast sold little boxes of salt water taffey by the register so when Daddio was paying up you could usually con him into buying a boxπ
The boxes had a little plastic window you could see all of the colored taffey through and a deep sea diver cartoon on the back...40 years later it's funny the specific things we remember
I used to like turnips when I was growing up. We had them sometimes at family dinners at home. I haven't had them in years. With my parents passed away many years ago, my kids' families no longer serve them, nor do I ever come across them in restaurants or supermarket delicatessans.
shareOh, they are very good with butter, salt and pepper
I rarely make them because the peeling and cubing is a pain in the neck
They are readily available. I scallop them and cook 'em up with onions, garlic, Anaheim chilis, and ground turkey (plus red chili powder of one kind or another).
shareThat sounds amazing AND like a full meal
I found a recipe online for Bacon Turnip Mash...I'm putting that on the short list too
I have memories of eating Hormel chicken ravioli in creamy sauce, but the more research I do for old commercials, etc, the more I'm convinced it never actually existed.
Also I loved McPizza, they were delicious.
Also miss Bonkers candy, especially the chocolate ones. Supposedly a confectionery company was bringing them back but it never happened.
And I miss Welchs sparkling grape soda as well as Orange Slice.
There was a Hormel kids' pasta and chicken dinner. Could you be thinking of this?

No, it came in a can.
shareMany of my favorites still exist, but they have eroded in quality. So I consider them gone.
One example is Hostess snack cakes. Twinkies, Hostess CupCakes, Snoballs and Ding Dongs were among my favorites when I was a kid. Then the company went bankrupt in 2012. When the new "Hostess Brands" emerged the following year, the drop in quality was obvious. The snacks were smaller and the consistency of the cakes was definitely drier. There has been some blatant tampering with the recipe.
Another was the Dolly Madison brand. They used to sponsor the Charlie Brown TV specials. My favorite was Zingers. I purchased some a year ago and was disappointed to find them dry. Even the layer of frosting on top is now thinner and not as creamy as the original. I found out the reason: Dolly Madison was acquired by the new Hostess Brands.
Needless to say, I have stopped purchasing both of these brands.
When I heard Hostess was closing shop, I ran straight out the door to the closest supermarket and the shelf was empty of all of their stuff EXCEPT for two cases of individually wrapped Ding Dongs. I bought them both. Shared one with chums on game night and sold the other one on Ebay for a tidy profit.
New Hostess snacks are indeed inferior. What I miss the most is the delicate little foils that wrapped the Ding Dongs and the sculpting they enabled.
I remember liking Eagle potato chips and being upset when they went out of business.
shareI remember the Tony Randall and Jack Klugman ads https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=tony+randall+eagle+snacks
Tony Randall would often have a bag whenever he appeared on David Letterman
