CLOSED ** Baker's Dozen -- Movies about American Revolution **

My dad is reading some non-fiction about the events in North America circa 1776, and asked me if I knew of any good movies on that topic. I could only come up with a few, so I'm looking for other recommendations.

Also, I might not be on here later today, so when you hit #13 if I don't respond soon, don't wait for me to pass the baton, use your own best judgment.

Sorry, but The Last of the Mohicans was not about the American Revolution.
It took place during the French and Indian War, which occurred from 1754 to 1763.

Likewise, The Scarlet Letter takes place in the 1660's, over a hundred years before the American Revolution.

Just because both films take place in Colonial America, does not mean that they are about the American Revolution.

Not American. Oops.

After removing the two films previously listed that are not about the American Revolution, per CKid's post above. You will likely need to use a TV Movie for #13. There are several.

For the OP's interest in dramatizations of the American Revolution, there have been several excellent mini-series that were aired on cable TV's History channel or HBO. They have the time for more in depth analysis.

Wow, some on that list I'd never heard of at all! Thanks to everyone who chimed in.

Might have to at that. But now that I'm bumping it, some new people will see it and maybe one of them will come up with #13.

I'm off to work now, so what I said earlier still goes. If someone does come up with a good #13, don't wait for me to pass that baton.

13. Sons of Liberty (1939) - this is also the title of the 2015 miniseries

I am also off to work. Will be back around 5 PM EDT. So if anyone else would like to post a Baker's Dozen in the meantime, go right ahead.
You can pay me later -- with doughnuts, of course! ;-)
