I wish someone had told me earlier in life that butter didn’t have to be refrigerated

I’ve been using hard butter or that gross olive oil blend until 6 months ago 😩

As a kid I used margarine 🤢 we didn’t know what we know now about how terrible it is for you.

Anyway, yeah room temp butter for the win!

If you use it up fairly quickly and you live in a cool climate it's not a problem, otherwise refrigerate it.

tastes better cold, to me.

I found a list of products online somewhere of food that doesn't need to be refrigerated. I was surprised by all the stuff that doesn't need to be in there and actually tastes Way Better if kept at room temperature.

Do a google search, get the list, print it out and stick it in your fridge for reference.

I have just consulted Mrs K who has an intimate knowledge of the room of the cooking and she says that the eggs are kept in an egg cage type holder on the worktop and the butter is kept in the fridge.

The things you learn, eh?

Not true. Unless you mean keep out for a day or so; after that it start to spoil. Now milk you can only leave out for an hour max. I'd recommend "gross" olive oil. It's healthy and room temp is just fine!

reply

Well look at how it is kept when you purchase it.
It's in a cooler. Not the refrigerator or the freezer.

But I will say this, because of all the years I am used to having to use refrigerator butter as far as french bread i prefer a big chunck of solid butter to a little piece of bread.
