What's with people deleting established threads/posts?

I noticed earlier that the Unpopular Opinions on movies thread was deleted or at least the first post which also means the title is gone.

I understand if you just create a thread and then change your mind and delete it straight away but to do so after many people have posted?

I don't get that.

It's just annoying as it prevents anyone else posting to the thread.

Or how that particular poster trolls....

They have less than 100 posts, if I recall....maybe not a troll, some of the topics are pretty cool....then again, maybe a troll....I don’t know, trickery, who knew!
