anyone else find the news more entertaining than movies now?

As terrible as it is to say, 2020's sure been an eventful year, hasn't it? It seems like every morning I wake up now, there's some really eye-popping news story that completely dwarfs any interest I have in watching movies. More often than not, I'd rather just sit back and watch the news now, rather than watch any actual films.

I know it's terrible to describe it as "entertaining", but as someone who's largely removed from the coronavirus mass hysteria and the recent political drama from the US, it really does kinda come off to me, as entertainment in a way (as cynical as it is sounds). Not that I want anyone to get hurt for my viewing pleasure or anything.

Anyone else feel the same?

I only watch for the weather, the rest of it seems to be house fires, assholes being assholes and what celeb marriage is on or off...Who really cares?

reply

Yeah, all that civic unrest and incompetent leadership... super entertaining.

reply

I'd rather watch horror movies, they put me at ease
We could use a good old fashioned summer camp massacre right about now to raise our spirits😆

reply

I do hope you mean like a sleepaway camp angela type movie, and not like they had in Norway in 2011.

reply

I was specifically thinking of Sleepaway Camp and Friday The 13th...just tongue in cheek, bad joke I suppose

reply

I did think that, and was writing a comment about Angela's aunt but then decided that I should clarify, so I think your joke was fine, I was just being too cautious.

reply

I do my best to keep my humor campy, corny, pun laden...It's mostly all bad dad jokes level...I don't do mean for laughs👍

reply

That's why I like you. Bad Dad jokes are my jam.

reply

My kids hate me LOL but I'm going to keep hitting them with awful dad jokes and puns all day!

Serves them right for wrecking the kitchen every few hours

reply

I would rather watch anything other than the news..Worse case Real Housewives of Ny or Catfish. Thats how much I don't want to watch the news.

reply

I'm with you
It's all slanted, agenda-driven and depressing

Only the weather is worth watching these days and they screw that up half the time as well🤬

reply

The "news" is 90% Stygiannati PSYOPS.

Assuming this is a serious question - I will give you a serious answer - HELL NO.

The news was never meant to be entertaining - it should be informative and unbiased. But with the advent of 24 hour news along with network ratings and promoting political agendas, the news media has evolved into something it shouldn't be.

For god's sake just report the news with no opinions - tell us what's happening and let us figure the rest out.
