Brief summaries of some movies I saw for the first time this weekend

The Matrix- Way overrated. Interesting plot but rather boring to watch.

Becky- Kevin James kinda sucked as a villian, but stong performance from Lulu Wilson and fun popcorn horror thriller.

Child's Play (2019) - Surprisingly fun. Top notch job by the kid tormented by Chucky. Updated scenario of AI gone haywire is great for today. Fun gore, fun characters, great pacing. Aubrey Plaza is always great to watch and look at. One of my unexpected favorite films in recent memory.

Richard Jewell- Overall very good movie. Nothing amazing or Earth shattering just a decent flick.

Come To Daddy- Not impressed. Just didn't have the it factor. Elijah Wood was ok, the movie just needed something else. Interesting premise but dull and unimaginative.

The Matrix - I hardly ever use the word overrated, but I’m with you on the rest of your sentiment...all these years, only watched twice

Richard Jewell- again, feel the same, well said...a shout out to the always reliable Kathy Bates...I will add, the use of composite characters is sometimes tricky, especially when Eastwood played a little loose with some details....

I find late night conspiracy theory chatter about whether or not we really are in a matrix always fun, so surely the movie named after this idea would be great. But it just was a bore fest. Also, and this isn't a knock on the film because it's not always easy to predict what future tech will look like, but I couldn't get over seeing people in the year 2199 using the same keyboard people used in 1999.

(SPOILERS) I think I read somewhere that Eastwood made the reporter lady out to be a sneaky manipulative lady who uses sex to get the story she wants, and this wasn't even remotely true.

About the Matrix- I’m with you, the story and concept was cool, but CGI and other effects just aren’t my bag...I don’t hate these wonderful technical advancements, I’m just more of bare-bones, stripped-down story kind of guy...

Richard Jewell (SPOILERS)- yep, that’s what I was talking about...and she passed away so we can’t get her side of story....I don’t hate Eastwood for doing it, it’s his film, he can do what he wants...I was a just little surprised coming from him....

My thoughts on what you watched:

The Matrix-Excellent film, great action and interesting ideas, 9/10
Becky- I though Kevin James did a good job. I loved Lulu Wilson, she is a super adorable badass. 8/10
Child's Play- I agree it was fun. 8/10
Richard Jewell- haven't seen it yet
Come To Daddy- I thought it was pretty good, 7/10

Lulu Wilson seems like she has a big future.

Richard Jewell wasn't spectacular but if you are interested in what happened it's good.

I loved Child's Play. Would recommend it to anyone.
