"We've decided to go in a different direction."
Whenever someone is fired or replaced these days, the phrase, "We've decided to go in a different direction" has become the knee-jerk justification.
Isn't this really just another way of saying, "We want to get rid of you and/or not have to pay you anymore without having to justify it"?
Is "going in a different direction" really just a way for employers to save face?
