I'd say Edward Woodward was better than Christopher Lee in The Wicker Man , especially at the end.

I admire both performances. I do personally prefer Lee and feel that Lord Summerisle is one of the great chilling screen villains, but I have no argument with anyone who prefers the excellent Woodward.

I like James Woods but not sure I'd put him in the best performances ever.

Your other picks are pretty solid, though. Especially Shaw and Colette. I think I'd replace Woods with Sigourney Weaver in Alien.

I was primarily thinking of performances that weren’t given Oscar recognition for some reason. Obviously Weaver is a top choice but she received an Oscar nom for Ripley. It’s weird that my brain felt only to include snubbed performances.
