Making an entertaining movie is not that easy. And I mean 'entertaining', not 'more entertaining that looking at the wall'
How many movies last year can be said that are as entertaining as Deep Blue Sea? Perhaps John Wick 3, or Toy Story 4, and perhaps a couple more. Not many.
I'm not saying making an entertaining movie doesn't take talent. To me "Deep Blue Sea" is bad but entertaining but "John Wick 3" is good and entertaining.
I don't think Harlin belongs there either. The Long Kiss Goodnight is one of the more entertaining genre films of the 90s and for me is a far better film than Die Hard in an Airport.
i liked her remake of 'the beguiled,' though i haven't watched it since the year it was released. i didn't think it was a great film, and it's mostly drifted away from my memory, but i remember it as being well made & interesting. & it received pretty decent reviews - 77% on metacritic.
He may be Dutch, but I agree, Jan de Bont has made only one good movie. And man, it's so good, I don't get why he wasn't able to do it a second time. I guess it all comes down to the script.
The Mummy is Stephen Sommers' only good movie. I'm sorry, but his other movies are so juvenile and cartoonish.
The Wachowskis and The Matrix.
I know none of you know the Dutch director Mike van Diem who made the Oscar winning movie Karakter, but after almost 20 years he finally did another movie and it was just mindboggling bad.
I like Bound, which was directed by The Wachowski's. I couldn't put that there. Except for that and The Matrix, I've hated everything else including the sequels.
It did, they released a movie-length finale after it was cancelled in the second season.
At 24 episodes it's not as daunting as starting some tv series, but I understand if TV isn't your thing. For what it's worth it is film-quality and very cinematic.

It's not that. I usually avoid watching TV shows because I find most of the time there are seasons that I don't like and I find that I have to force myself to sit through it. I gave up on The Walking Dead after season 5 because of it. I hate quitting on shows because I've invested so much time into it . I'd rather watch a movie because if it gets boring, I only have to sit through a small amount of time.
