Anyone ever seen the Tremors sequels?

I love the first movie but had never ventured into the sequels after decades of hearing nothing but bad things about them. “Yeah the first one is cool but the sequels are terrible.” That’s all you ever hear about the sequels. I remember seeing bits of Tremors 2 back on TV in the early 2000’s and thinking it looked corny so I avoided all of them.

That is until I saw the entire franchise had been added on Netflix and I decided to give Tremors 2 a watch. It’s not perfect and not as good as the first one, but I was incredibly suprised! It’s not bad at all! A solid 7/10. The effects are about as good as the first and it is mostly a very entertaining experience in terms of the story. It’s easily the best direct to video sequel I’ve ever seen.

Maybe people are talking about the other movies? Or am I just in some vast minority? Should I see the other sequels too?

What a good time to be online!

I grew up on the Tremors movies and love them. The first is definitely the best, but none of the first four films are "terrible". I grew up with people telling me the same thing about how the first movie is brought down by its terrible sequels, but I never understood the hate.

Tremors 2 is certainly a competently made film. I love Tremors 2, actually, and I've never understood even half of the vitriol it's received. Compared to Critters 2 or Leprechaun 2 or any other "crappy" horror sequel, Tremors 2 doesn't even compare; it's miles ahead.

Tremors 3 is easily the weakest of the first four films in my opinion. It has a loose story that lacks the same tightness that the first two had. Characters just sorta walk around and do stuff and then stuff happens that progresses the "plot". The next evolution in graboid is incredibly ridiculous and kinda cringeworthy, even for one of these movies. It's just a bit too stupid and confused to be considered good. However, the strong characters and funny dialog save it from being outright awful. Michael Gross becomes the main star and he is absolute gold.

Tremors 4 is a prequel set up like a western. Many have said this is the worst Tremors film, but I disagree. It's clear the filmmakers had tons of fun with the premise and that fun transcends onto the audience. The plot also returns to the tight coherent style we saw in the first two. I really, really don't get the hate.

Tremors 5 and 6 are fuck all. They weren't made by the same company that did 1-4 and it shows. They feel nothing like anything we've seen before and are dull, boring, and poorly made. Tremors 6 is among the worst things I've ever seen.

Interesting. Do the sequels still have the same effects like the second one does?
