Yeah, 1917 will probably win. As for the rest, I'll have to think on that.

reply

Cute video. Take you're time we got all week :)

I had to change my Best Director prediction Sam Mendes directed the crap out of 1917 but Quentin might surprise us this year you never know but I think Sam will take home the gold

reply

I’m hopeless with predictions, always get them wrong 🤷‍♂️

I wouldn’t be upset to see QT have his Oscar moment, even if it’s not for his best work.

Overall I like the nominees but not heavily invested in any of them, so I should enjoy the show this year. Fingers crossed for some surprise winners.

reply

NOT HEAVILY INVESTED IS HOW I FEEL ABOUT THIS YEARS SLATE OF NOMINEES,EXCEPT ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD.I GENUINELY LOVE THAT FLICK AND WILL HAVE MY FINGERS CROSSED FOR IT ON ALL ITS NOMINATIONS.

reply

Well good luck on Sunday

reply

Don’t get me wrong caps, I share your love for OUATIH, it just probably sits around number three on my favourite Tarantino films list.

Your post made me think though, maybe I was a little disingenuous, I would really like to see Pitt win an acting Oscar. That McConaughey has one and he doesn’t seems wrong.

reply

Yeah Once was a bit dull tbh it wasn't QT best work I was expecting more.

reply

Oh, and Margot Robbie. I hope she wins too. Would be awesome for her to follow Kidman and Blanchett and become Australia's third Oscar-winning actress.

Sadly, the hive mind is out in full force this year - Phoenix, Zellweger, Pitt and Dern have been sweeping everything and it seems hugely unlikely that any of them will lose. I have nothing against any of them - good actors all - but it has made this season awfully dull so far. Hopefully there will at least be some surprises in other categories - Mendes seems locked, but I do think that Parasite has a shot at unseating 1917 in Best Picture.

My predictions:

Best Picture: 1917
Director: Sam Mendes, “1917”
Lead Actor: Joaquin Phoenix "Joker"
Lead Actress: Renee Zellweger, “Judy”
Supporting Actor: Brad Pitt, “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood”
Supporting Actress: Laura Dern, “Marriage Story”
Animated Feature: Toy Story 4
Best International Feature Film: Parasite

Personally, I don't think 1917 deserves to win best picture. I have seen 8 of the 9 nominees and I would rank 1917 7th out of them.

reply

I've only seen Once Upon A Time In...Hollywood which was okay but not QT best.
Joker was okay but I don't see it winning BP
Parasite will win Best Foreign film but BP I don't see it winning.
1917 was really good I took my Dad to see it the day it came out and he really enjoyed it. I hadn't been that into a movie in a while. I was worried for those two soldiers I didn't want to get up and go to the bathroom I was afraid I'd miss something that's been a while since a movie did that.
