I noticed this a couple of decades ago. It dawned on me that the awards went to the highest selling acts and records rather than it being based on actual quality.

Want to see real pointless music awards? Try the Australian ones. One act tends to pretty much clean up all the awards for the night and then is usually never heard from again.
