Is there a time limit that you can spend one on one with your partner?

Being around the one person all the time can put strain on any relationship. Some couples love the weekend getaway, but a 3 month holiday would be the kiss of death.

Or retirees who divorce. They spent their adult lives together as a working couple, but being around their significant other 24/7 is just too much.

So do you know the limits with your partner? Do you say things like 'maybe you should go out with your friends?' etc?

reply

Take it from someone who messed this up, spend time apart. My ex and I spent 24/7 together, its not healthy. I'd say two days a week you should be doing things without your partner. I think if I had followed that I wouldn't be single.

my wife goes out more on the weekends than i do. it does her good to hang out with her girlfriends.

reply

Its a fine line, hopefully you have it right and don't just think you have it right.

reply

she also goes on vacation with her sister every winter. we are not the clingy type.

reply

You seem defensive, thats not a good sign. Marriage is like an egg its so fragile.

reply

we've been together 30 years. we don't have to spend every breathing moment together.

reply

I think he sounds perfectly normal. He admits that his wife spends time on her own and he seems fine with it.

reply

Well I was married in 1992 so you have me beat. Anyway now my husband has an apartment and we spend two days a week together. Best marriage ever. I'm actually happier now, who would have thought.

reply

Is it an 'open marriage'?

reply

no its a marriage for 25 years where we see each other two days a week and have dinner and sex. I'm pretty happy.

reply

That is SO AWESOME!!!!! I'm jealous.

reply

you shouldn't be jealous the sex is ho hum.

reply

does that mean bad or mediocre?

reply

some guys would die for a relationship like that.

reply

Why bother getting married if you only spend two days a week together? Wouldn't it make more sense just to have separate bedrooms? I'm not judging, I've just never heard of a married couple living apart unless they are separated.

I get a kick out of my girl, she's possibly smarter than I am and has a wicked sense of humor
She's pretty too and sweet
Can't get enough of her really

Most years I go away for a deer hunt or a fishing weekend with my buddies...I wind up missing my Lady by Saturday afternoon...If you told me that would ever be the case 20 years ago I would have chugged my beer THEN yours!
And I sure don't mention this at deer camp, I'd get a well deserved beating LOL!

Hard to explain as I usually prefer to be alone but some people are just drawn to each other
I probably didn't explain that very well but I tried...apologies:/
