Is anyone here good at math? Likes it somewhat at least?

I've struggled with some algebra stuff in the past, but never really put much effort/time in to it.

It'd probably be useful to improve my math now somewhat, because I've even lost some previous capability from just not bothering with it much. I don't really "hate" math, but don't have a good experience with it in more advanced levels (like algebra, trigonometry, statistics, etc.). My guess is that -- since I didn't see any immediate use for it -- I didn't put serious effort in to learning it just to "learn it."

Anyone here more math-brilliant or just good at math in more advanced levels? Do you find it comes in handy or can be used in useful/beneficial ways outside of specific applications (like hard sciences or etc.)?

You know, it'd be great motivation if some of this advanced stuff could help in day-to-day life as well, instead of only having to learn it solely for one specific purpose/limited purposes. I don't have a goal to learn more for just a single purpose anyways....

You are speaking exactly my language. You love math as a concept because that's what it is in your life: A concept.

The codification of "mathematics" is not wrong, it's just messy and not unified with reality. This is known of math and physics, by the way, but it will change.

Stay fluid with it, recognize when something "feels" right and work on figuring out why.

Build a math that works for your life. Money is one example, it has a whole range of its own stuff.

You also need to recognize what you like: Natural, fluid codification. Get used to legalese, the basics. Then get used to some scientific writing. You'll notice the technical aspect matches.

All that Latin in science? Latin is a codified formal structure. It was never a language.

Check up on it, you'll love it.

Music is maths.
Language is formula (Maths).
Love unfortunately isn’t.

I love math. I wouldn’t say that I am good at it, but it was always a favorite subject in school.

Froggy is the Math guy and hownos is no slouch either

I can't add up more than is in my pocket:/
I'm so bad at Algebra and all of that heavy stuff that they made me take a remedial college course...You never feel like a bigger dummy until they charge you 400 bucks in community night school to listen to a guy talk about things you are entirely unaware of AND you don't even get credits for the course LOL!

Last day of that 2 goddam month course I went up and shook the Math Prof's hand...I had come to like and respect him even if I barely paid attention to all of his math talk
I told him 'You're a good teacher, a nice guy and I'm happy to have met you but I hope I never see you again'

I've been informed since that this was rude by a couple women from that class but they are long gone now and I was only there for paper to get a job... That Math Prof was a swell guy though!

I dropped out of algebra when I was in high school. Never took geometry, trig. or calculus. I'm more of a left-brain person.
