It’s getting harder and harder to get a live voice on the phone


Is that bad sign? Is our economy so bad that businesses can’t afford to pay customer service representatives or outsource them to developing countries where there is a very thick language barrier?

I find voice automated menus extremely frustrating and cumbersome. I don’t think I’m alone, hence the “hidden” back door option of using code words to get a live representative or the old school “0” when it works (rarely now.)

Companies always find a cheaper means of providing services
Paying Americans a salary plus possibly bennies is way more expensive than outsourcing to India or wherever

I agree, it's frustrating to wade through the accents, especially when your'e already flustered over a product warranty or lost credit card!
