Those of you with YouTube TV, how happy are you with it?

I've had it for 10 days and about the only thing I'm happy about is the price, which is admittedly a big plus. On the minus side, trying to navigate it, especially for something as simple as changing channels, is maddening. When you bring up the guide you cannot exit it to resume what you were watching--you have to choose that channel again to remove the guide from the screen (took me a while to learn never to hit the exit button--that closes the whole app!). There is no button that takes you back to the previous channel--the "pre-ch" button on my remote only gives me info on the current program. This makes it difficult to watch two shows at the "same" time, as I'm sure many of you do on your cable TVs, if only to avoid commercials. They really need to make their own remote that will work on the few brands of TVs that they are compatible with.
Then there are the commercials which you are not allowed to skip on recorded (some) shows. It's surprising that they value profit (no-commercial-skipping deals with the channels) over one of the main reasons people love DVRs in the first place!
Also, they have a problem transmitting CNN. The feed "stutters," quite frequently and badly, making it unwatchable about 50% of the time. Yesterday it made the TV screen crash and go black!
They don't carry PBS.
After a week, they stop responding to your questions via email.
I could go on, but I'd like to hear if other people have the same problems. Perhaps in the future it will get better, as they are yet young in this endeavor. I just don't know if I can wait, and the next offer I get in the mail for a big discount on a 2-yr contract with a cable company, I think I will take it. Maybe it will still cost more than YTTV, but there is value in being able to channel surf like the old days, with instantaneous connection to channels, and no commercials ever if you choose!

this is why I stick to cable and we don't get youtube tv in canada.

So how much is cable in Canada?

reply

I bundle it with high speed internet, two cell phones and a home phone. So I pay about $30.00 per month for the cable portion.

That's great. You can't even get the most basic package here for $30!
