I was on nightshift the other night, tired, not feeling well. Never heard of the film actually but I clicked on it as I don't mind Jennifer Connolly, anyway saw the thread about John Hughes being a creep. No idea if he was or wasn't, don't care either way.
There was a guy banging on about how it was so wrong, how they shouldn't have had Jen dress like that in the film etc etc. Yeah whatever, never seen the film but looked up some pics from it WOW!!! Errrrr, anyway, I pointed out that he was being naive, isn't Jen capable of making her own decisions about these things, don't you think she had her own career opportunities and advancement in mind?
It started one of those rather amusing back and forth things where the other person just doesn't get it and I was just "having a lend of him" as we say down here. It killed a couple of hours of my shift anyway. So I might be partially responsible for some of that trending.
And no, I am not sorry. :-)
I read some of that and agree, Jennifer was an adult at the time and free to choose her roles. Still Hughes may have been a creep too. I skimmed over the stuff about Molly Ringwald, but that would be creepy given her young age if true.

I was reading on my phone so didn't notice any of the details if they did post them about Molly, might have to revisit. I find it creepier thinking about nude scenes that were done by under 18's in the 1980's, Brooke Shields and Olivia D'Abo come to mind. Don't know how they got away with that but times were different. Plenty of 16 year old topless Page 3 girls too.
I remember hearing hype about Pretty Baby but only got around to seeing it a few years ago. O.M.G. What a shocker! I can’t believe they still show this film anywhere in this day and age. Also can’t believe the self righteous Susan Sarandon was in this and condoned what is essentially child porn. Poor Brooke Shields.
