Sometimes a movie or show comes along that shows you: hey, this person is actually an actor, they're actually great.

I am watching "Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile." From the moment Zac Effron appeared onscreen he is Ted Bundy. He is nailing this character and has completely transformed. I have a new and serious respect for him as an actor.

Have you seen it? What movies have fully converted you into a fan of an actor you previously disliked?

reply

Good Time really showed off Robert Pattinson's acting ability
I never took him seriously prior to this one and now I like the guy

reply

I don't normally like him, so maybe your recommendation is the key to unlocking Pattinson for me.

reply

I was amazed by his performance in this one
He was also top shelf in The Lost City of Z and The Rover👍

reply

i haven't seen the rover, but i liked 'lost city of z' & really loved good time, & thought he was terrific in both.
i've heard he was great in that cronenberg movie as well. i recall it getting someone mixed reviews, but i'd still like to catch up with it at some point.

reply

Cosmopolis?
I just looked it up
It's streaming on Amazon Prime
Cronenberg + Pattinson sounds interesting

reply

Adam Sandler in Reign Over Me. Sadly he went back to making his cheap, crappy comedies so now i have to dislike him again.

reply

I wanted to see that. I really like him in Punch-Drunk Love, but most of his movies are terrible. I do have a soft-spot for The Wedding Singer though.

reply

It's definitely worth a watch. I remember watching Happy Gilmore and laughing literally one time, i never laughed at his other comedies except when it was because of how terrible i find them, his comedy style just doesn't work for me. I think it says somehing because i can laugh at almost all sorts of humor. But not Sandler.
