My brothers have definitely been to Santiago. One of them got mugged over there! (don't let that put you off as it is a rare occurrence and he was extremely unlucky) I don't know if they went to Valparaiso though. I, personally haven't been to either place.

I'm pretty sure it has a decent nightlife and plenty of places to go party.
